What’s up with my 17month girl’s sleep?
Hey all, my 17mo girl was adopted by us a few months ago and she’s generally a great sleeper, goes down with a bottle of milk at 6, wakes for a drink at 4 and stays down until 6.30 or so.
But the last couple of nights she’s having sudden awakes at 11-12 midnight, drinks a bottle and then spends the following hour and a half low-level grizzling or outright crying. She’s constantly rubbing her eyes as she’s really tired but can’t settle, but isn’t moving much otherwise (as in, signs of discomfort), just crying.
We thought it might be tummy issues but eventually it passes and there’s no sounds, smells or dirty nappies. We’ve changed her just in case at times, she cries through the whole thing and goes back to drowsy-crying in her cot when we put her back down. We’ve offered her more milk in case she’s hungry, no change. Too cold? We’ve put on tons of blankets to the point she’s sweating. Too hot? We’ve stripped her down as far as we dare in these winter months.
What’s happening with her? There’s nothing that makes me think she needs medical help. Last week we fully woke her to see what would happen, and she acts as if nothing was wrong - all smiles and contented babbling until she falls asleep again and generally stays down until morning.
It’s really confusing!
