Class assignment

My college son (at liberal Jesuit university) has his final homework assignment of the semester for his Catholic religion class. He is supposed to go to the two different church services that aren't Catholic (such as Orthodox, Episcopalian, Baptist, Jewish) and write about them. But I vaguely remember canon law saying Catholics can't attend another religion's service. Can someone clarify if it is okay for him to do this assignment?
