Can I just put a resistor in?

My whole shelf is light with Ikea lights but one of them is (a Mittled spot) is brighter than the other ones. I can only dim them all at once so that’s not an option. The lamp runs at 24VDC with I think 90mA (it’s 2.2 watts). I thought about just putting a 1k Ohm resistor in to just dim the light constantly. But since I have no idea what I’m doing here I don’t know if it’s a good idea. I’ve tried it for a short period of time (for like 5min) to test it but I don’t if the resistor would get too hot or something when I deploy it for a few hours. So I’m asking for a bit of guidance here.
