Question about the anniversary of my PTSD event.
Is it normal to have anxiety on the lead up to the anniversary effect of their PTSD? Let me explain....
Every year, around the time of my "PTSD event", I feel tension in my chest, and a lot of stupid stuff can get an unusually aggro response extending to about a month an a half out. I watched a friend and fellow recruit die very graphically in boot camp back in '11-'12 (RIP Walker) and it feels like every year, on my ship out date, the day of, and each in-between makes me feel spring-loaded with anxiety.
I've tried ignoring it, indulging it with ceremony, and I've accepted that it's a part of my life, but Ive recently moved and have no local support system other than my wife. Military ignored the problem when I was in, and the issue progressively got worse until I was diagnosed with insomnia. VA has been very helpful, but I feel the need to outsource this year in favor of sheer volume of coping strategies given the lack of local support. Thanks in advance.
