Tourist who requires help on speeding fine received
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me. I received a speeding ticket during my time in Turkey for driving 122km/h I'm a 121km/h zone. The total amount of the fine was 951tl.
I had been told by the officer I could pay the fine at Ziraat Bank, however when I went to the bank in Istanbul the person I spoke to was extremely unhelpful and said that I couldn't pay the fine at Ziraat. Following this, I understood my only option to pay the fine would be at the treasury office when leaving the country however, when leaving the country the office stated the only way for me to pay was cash, and at this stage due to leaving I had no physical cash with me.
I have attempted to pay online via the Government website and also asked the rental company but neither of these have been successful. Does anyone know what other option I have to pay whilst being abroad?
My concern is I will not be allowed back in the country, due to the outstanding fine and as it states on the ticket interest will continually be applied making the sum difficult to pay.
Thanks in advance.
