Recording traffic violations

Is there any group in LA county trying to get it to where we can record traffic violations then turn them in if the license plate is visible? I’m totally up for signing petitions and helping out. I don’t know how to get started.

In my city, we have basically zero enforcement. Cars going 50 plus in a 25, 30 zone, too close passing bikes, school road rage where they try to drive through the crosswalk with the crossing guard standing there waving kids through.

I live in Duarte, we have no police. We have the Temple sheriff station. They definitely aren’t patrolling around the school or areas I frequent. I emailed them about randomly patrolling around the schools because of road rage. Haven’t heard back yet. Don’t know if I will.

I’m planning on going to the next city traffic planning meeting, they have an official name, to talk about traffic calming measures on one street in particular. It’s parallel to the bike path that goes directly to one of the schools. It’s very difficult to get on and off the trail at the other end because of erratic drivers. When I brought this up last time, they said the entries and exits to the trail along this road are more than sufficient for safely crossing the street. So, I’m gonna go back with more detailed ideas because I cross that road at least four times a day every school day. Without school, it’s still multiple times a week because it goes towards a big park and the SGV trail entrance. It does not feel safe especially when you think it’s clear to cross then someone is having a road race down it.

I’m going to get a camera to mount on my bike to record a lot of these incidents, maybe that will help my position. Any advice welcome.
