Someone's smoking weed in the store I work at
Hey everyone, I need some advice.
So I work at Home Depot overnight and last night it smelled like someone was smoking/vaping weed, the smell was so strong like it came from someone a couple aisles over and it was made worse by the fact that we're in a closed, locked store with zero ventilation.
It's just a handful of us working overnight basically stocking shelves, and I know a couple of my coworkers smoke weed, which I don't have a problem with, but I'm almost certain someone was smoking (probably vaping these days) weed in the store. It was a big unexpected trigger that I believe I shouldn't have to face while just trying to make a living at work. If they smoke outside on break away from me, I have no issues, but again, it was so stupidly loud that I swear I must had gotten a small contact high or at least the smell triggered an anxiety attack for me.
I'll hit 17 months clean this month, I don't want to have my recovery put in jeopardy by someone inconsiderate enough to do this, which I understand because I used to be that guy.
The thing is, I don't want to be the reason at least one of my coworkers gets fired if I report this and they drug test us, because I know at least a couple of them will test positive. However, I don't want to stay quiet about this and have to potentially deal with this again.
This is in California by the way, but I believe Home Depot follows federal laws and has a zero tolerance substance use policy, and especially for us overnight who regularly use lift equipment like forklifts.
What do you think I should do?
