Two coffee stands parked outside USC’s Keck Hospital for more than 20 years are slated to close to make way for a new Starbucks location.
I read about a small business owner being displaced from their 20 year business. I just keep seeing Starbucks cups in the hands of celebrities. I know people can argue 1. It’s just coffee 2. It’s not that serious 3. Snowflake yada yada yada but in reality. These companies don’t remain neutral. They clearly showcase their corporate greed. Despite supporting an inhumane war, they deny reasonable rights to their very own employees. There are more complex issues as to why these multi billion dollar corporations should act ethically. Such as their impact on the environment, and public health.
Take away what you want from this but I believe that small business should not be removed from the Keck campus. Build the Starbucks if you must. But remove this woman from the premises goes against their ethos. It’s hypocrisy and shameful.
