I stopped a few books back, maybe it's time? Imo it's a great concept for a story, but i feel like i can see the authors hand waving in my face, unhidden at all. Jason got so smug and self philosophizing that I just had to put it down. Cloud fortresses are pretty cool tho.
Honestly I returned it and 9 after starting book 10. It was already on shaking footing for me from book 5. First 3 books are awesome. But it just feels like a therapy book for the author to pour his personal wet dreams and live through Jason. It gets kinda weird and cringey. Was really hoping a proper editor would come through and cut some of it and the filler out. Oh well. On to the next series.
I'm in the same place. I'm about 25% into book 10 and I just can't get through it.
There’s a challenge when the MC becomes overpowering and the enemies have to rank up in comparison so the MC doesn’t just one punch them and the match ups get more ludicrous. I fell out of love with Azarinth Healer for this reason but part of this growth needs to be the character understanding the complexity of the world more.
Jason has grown a lot compared to the early books and I love how he was impacted by the earth arc (despite it being weaker than the other two trilogies) but his habit of being a dick eventually comes across as self indulgent. If the rest of the team were his mates they would have told him to pull his head in and not be so relentlessly supportive “because if he bowed down then bad things would happen”.
Gary cannot die !
You’re not alone. I also despised this book. But unlike you, I’m done with this series. Just too much disappointment. I think the author lost his grip on this series after book 3.
I stopped a third of the first book. Just couldn't continue but I might will eventually read it again or listen to it.
It’s ok to stop reading a series.
My assumption is we’ll get book 11 in 6 ish months. But after that publication will be caught up with Patreon so book releases will slow down
I appreciate the information but my post was more intended to say that it’s not good but I still like it which is upsetting. I hope it comes around.
I've just seen so many people "force" themselves to continue with a hobby or story or video game, and they end up disappointed. Better to focus on finding something you enjoy rather than love/hate
They ever say how many books are gonna be in the series?

No current set book count
Cause he milking it, this guy is worse than One Piece with the filler🚫🧢
Not even slightly wrong about that, I would never compare hwfwm to one piece. Hwfwm doesn't even come close when it comes to quality, plot, character development, or world building. But I get what you're saying about filler, 10 seemed to be 80% filler. It's like shirtaloon is taking one book, chopping it into 3rds, and then adding a bunch of filler to make it 3 books to make more money in exchange for quality.
Oh boy lol looks like I'll have to drop the series and come back in about 5 years then.
you only read complete series? Any recommendations?
