[185] Elysium Asunder - Jacket Copy Critique
Hello,
I am getting into the final stages of publishing my novel and could use a bit of a hand critiquing my jacket copy. Obviously I don't want to give away the twists and turns (of which there are plenty), but I need to promote this book as an antidote to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
A tiny bit more about the story itself: It is an alien invasion which begins with Jerusalem, and over the course of the novel my MC—Elijah (Israeli)—winds up with Noora (Palestinian) as they try to survive the chaos. Ceede is a small grey alien, and through his curiosity risks too much during the conflict.
Here is the jacket copy itself:
Elysium Asunder
A mysterious energy shield appears over Jerusalem, cutting off the outside world with technology far beyond humanity’s means. The Israeli Defence Force mobilizes in reaction, and newly promoted First Sergeant Elijah Gideon is ordered to secure the perimeter of the anomaly and prepare to put his skills as a combat search and rescue operator to the test until its purpose can be determined. Battling PTSD, Elijah is confronted with a new reality: humans are no longer alone in the universe. First contact has been forced upon the world, and Israel and Palestine are at the forefront amidst their own conflict.
Noora Mukhtar, a young Palestinian woman, is caught up in forces beyond her comprehension and is thrust together with Elijah as the consequences of first contact become apparent to humanity. Together, they will discover intelligences, terrors, and wonder beyond Earth as they are included in a much larger universe.
Ceede, a curious young grael parthenogenetic clone, intervenes beyond what his species is supposed to and, consequently, sets in motion a series of events that could ultimately determine the fate of the entire galaxy.
