Did I Mess Up?

I'm working on making a child sized cardigan. The instructions for the row were to stitch BLO except the first and last stitch of each row. I am to increase by three stitches at four different points. There is no mention of BLO.

I increased BLO. There's now gapping happening at the corners I've created and it doesn't look bad, but I'm curious if this is causing weak points. Was a supposed to increase using the whole loop? Should I go back and fix everything? I'm only 11 rows into the project, but it did take quite some time since I'm a beginner.
