Thoughts on take home cases as first round without screening?

Applied to this startup called ClipBoard Health.

They sent me a take home case asking this to be completed within the week.

The case is complex and seems like a real problem they’ve faced, not sure whether they’ve solved it yet.

I typically at least have a screening call with hr where they tell me a bit more about the organization + salary range before throwing me a case.

This seems disrespectful and asking for free labor.
