Growing Jasmine on NYC fire escape

Hello all !!

I am looking to purchase a hardy jasmine plant that can live outside year round. We would be keeping it on our fire escape which gets lots of light until around 2 in afternoon. We have a David Austin climbing rose out there right now just winterized it and it is doing extremely well. After my research of zone 6 jasmine I found that my option would be the common jasmine. Should I stay away ? Any growing tips ?
