Honda Fuel Pump Recall

I’ve got a 2019 Honda HRV that was included in the fuel pump recall. Back when we got the letter we took it in and they replaced the fuel pump.

This week (while out of town and driving on the interstate) I lost all power and was lucky to get it off the road and onto the shoulder without incident.

After a couple of days of diagnosing (not by Honda, I had it towed to the closest shop) it’s been determined that it’s a fuel pump issue and they are replacing it.

I’m pretty frustrated that a car with just 50k miles, that’s already had the fuel pump replaced once, has to have it replaced again after it failed and left me stranded on the side of the road.

My question, does Honda track the s/n of the parts they put in the car when new? Either the new fuel pump had the same issue as the old one or they never replaced it when we took it in under the recall. I’m assuming it’s the former and the new pump had a similar issue but I’d like to see if I can check to make sure the bad pump that was pulled out.
