I'm becoming a horrible, shallow person

I've developed a horrible personality over the past few years.

For most of my life, I was really shy and didn't have much friends. It was a combination of not being interested in friendship and being a bit off-putting (weird personality, insociable, conventionally unattractive).

I'm current in my third year of college and have changed a lot. I joined a variety of clubs, became more social and confident, and also had a bit of a "glow up." I was making a lot of friends, and many of my male friends were guys initially interested in dating (which had never happened before). A lot of the people I befriended were the "cool kids." I know that doesn't really exist in college, but at least in my social environment they were the ones that everyone knew about and liked. They were funny, nice, academically driven, and I seemed to fit in.

When I reflect on my younger self, I think I was a genuinely kind person. I treated everybody the same and only cared about the personality of my friends. The attractiveness or the "coolness" of people was something that didn't even register.

But now, I noticed my initial assessment of someone's attractiveness and "coolness" has become priority in how I proceed in my interaction with them. I'm nice, but aren't interested in friendship or continuing a deeper conversation if they aren't.

I've recently realized I do this and am genuinely disgusted with myself. I'm nice, polite, and smiley, but I'm no longer kind. People have described me as being "the nicest person ever" and having "kind eyes" but I know this isn't true at all. Every time someone says something along those lines, it stabs me with guilt and I think of how kind they are and how fake I am. I know it's only external and internally I'm a horrible, shallow, judgmental person. My highschool friends are some of the most funny, kind, intelligent, and caring people I've met in my entire life and it's horrible realizing I might've never befriended them if I met them now.

I've tried to stop thinking this way, but realized the judgment would occur immediately, and my voice of reason would reprimand the thought afterwards.

I've become an incredibly shallow and judgmental person.
