How to switch careers into finance

Hi everyone. I’ve been working in the consulting space since graduating college (started in environmental, moved over to construction consulting) and am interested in moving towards a career in finance if it’s a possible switch. I do understand it would be a career change but am eager to learn and don’t mind putting in extra time to get up to speed. My background is field service and project management based with some overlap into the financial aspects of project management, and am currently pursuing the PMP with a longer term goal of going after an MBA but think it’s best to wait a few more years on that one. I’ve been looking into the banking space and entry level financial analyst roles and would like to hear any guidance on what skills to highlight, any useful certifications that don’t require a finance degree, or any coursework that I could provide pursue that would help prepare and get a foot in the door. Any insight into how your own careers started and progressed I am also interested to hear. Thank you!
