Account Issues

I recently made a new epics games account with my Sony information, when I try to sign into my new account it all goes well until it asks me to fill in the email associated with the account I know the email associated is the same as my PS4 one but whenever I put that email in to complete the sign in process it gives me an error message essentially saying its not the correct one, could this be due to an older account I made with that same email I'm using for my PS4 while trying to sign in, I was able to sign into that older account and deactivate it but would like to know after the 14 day wait will it work?
