1t vs single rear axle semi

I was thinking about this and figured I’d ask on the front page of the internet..

With the advances in technology in recent times.. Vehicle makers advertise these 1ton pickups able to tow 30k pounds.. but how much would you say is too much for a pickup versus moving up to something bigger? Not buying anything personally just curious.
