Save bug

I've been playing ark and I haven't had to deal with that save bug that doesn't save your progress when you log out. Today I got attacked and lost all my buddies and In an attempt to save it I thought id try to just close the game out from the main menu and hope it'll go back and it actually worked! My dinos were all back. So I'm thinking the issue could be closing the game out from the console menu instead of the game?
