Ideas for week vacation

Hello! Please delete if this is too close to the itinerary rule; I'm posting here because I don't have an itinerary at all (my problem).

I'm a digital nomad and will be staying in Japan for about 7 weeks in March/ April next year. We'll be staying at a home base in likely Osaka or Tokyo and exploring from there (possibly even a split).

My question though is: one of those weeks is going to be a pure vacation, no work at all week. We'll be doing side quests on the weekends to other places around the country, but much shorter stints.

If you had a week vacation in Japan and could pretty much anywhere, where would you go? Keeping in mind I'll have the ability for short weekend treks as well. I'm kind of leaning towards maybe Hokkaido and that region? It'll be wintery but that'll be fun and different.
