Immigration Isn't Necessary To Be A Developed And Advanced Country
My mind boggles when I see posts stating the notion that immigration with lots of scientists and engineers will make us a great country.
Japan, Korea, and Scandinavia are clear examples that immigration is not necessary to become technological powerhouses.
The notion that immigration is the instrument that will make Canada into a technological powerhouse is a total lie when we have East Asia and Scandinavia as blatant examples to the contrary.
Yes, the USA and Silicon Valley attracts a lot of talent from around the world. But that's because the USA has the largest economy on Earth, and a large military presence to pressure smaller nations. It's not because immigration is so great, more like, every ambitious person wants a piece of America and are willing to drop everything in a heartbeat to be able to move there.

In all seriousness Canada will never be technologically advanced when our capital is going to real estate and our labour is from the Third World. This is not conducive to technological advancement.
