Opinions/thoughts on these books?

Discussion

I happened to stop by an old bookstore today and found a few of the books written by the authors from the series. I was actually very surprised to see so many. I didn’t really have a lot of time to look through and examine all of them, so I grabbed what I originally went there for and left (it was a few of the Fyodor Dostoevsky books ironically enough).

I’m really curious on what people’s takes on these books are before I potentially take the plunge. I’m very curious about a lot of these but can’t afford them all at the moment, so would love to hear what people think and feel about these so I can pick a couple to choose from and narrow down the list for now (and see if it is indeed something I’m interested in reading).

Nikolai Gogol (The overcoat and dead souls)

Junichiro Tanizaki (Naomi, in praise of shadows, sirens lament)

Osamu Dazai (The setting sun, the flowers of buffoonery)

Sōseki Natsume (I am a cat)

Atsushi Nakajima (the moon over the mountain)

Edgar Allen Poe (The murders in the rue morgue)
