"don't think about the money" - total bs
show me another trader who gives the same old scripted advice of "just don't think about the money" and I'll show you someone who's never made or lost real money trading.
Contrary to popular belief on this sub, this is absolutely terrible advice, not realistically doable, and stupid even in theory.
Try making or loosing $10k in a week and not thinking about it. That level of stoicism is unrealistic. And it should be.
We trade to make money. We trade with money we sacrifice from other endeavors. You could have paid rent with your trading account money. Paid down debt, took a trip etc. You had to work hard outside of trading to earn your trading account money.
There is a real opportunity cost to loosing that money!
It's not an arbitrary game of numbers. You can't just follow a strategy and ignore the real world results. You should be afraid of loosing your hard earned capital! Trading goal #1: capital preservation. Aka don't loose money!
Manage risk, limit losses, and try to grow your account while preserving your initial capital and protecting your gains.
While trading you always think about the money. And you should. It limits your risk, keeps you grounded, stops you from blowing your account, stops you from trading stupid etc.
Don't let some kid who watched some bs YouTube video on trader phycology tell you any different.
So think of what that $5k could buy you in real life before you yolo into that option strategy, or buy way to many futures contracts. This is real life, real money is on the line. Trade appropriately.
