Pre vasectomy test?

I asked my urologist if it was a common request to get tested before the procedure. I wanted to know what my counts and motility were. He said no. Nobody has ever asked that. I'm like, well one, I wanna know what I'm giving up here, and 2, what if I'm already sterile for some reason?? Anybody else think that?
