Burst Anal Gland - Cat
A little over a month ago, I noticed my cat was licking his butt a lot. On November 8, I found watery blood on the floor next to his litter box. I took him to the vet the next day and they said his anal glad must have become clogged and burst. They shaved around the area and cleaned the burst gland, put a cone on him, and gave me Clavamox (antibiotic liquid), Gabapentin (pain killer liquid), and Animax (topical ointment). I’ve been back to the vet twice (each time I’ve been, I’ve seen a different vet) now for follow ups and they just keep extending the existing treatment. On the second visit, they had me start doing a twice daily warm compress for 5 minutes before putting on the Animax. And on the most recent visit they gave me three days of Onsior tablets. In all now, it’s been a month and it’s still not fully healed and still looks like an open wound (unable to attach photo). Not sure what to do.
