Work boots. Mink oil or not?

There are TONS of conflicting information out there. One side, argues that mink oil speeds up the rate of the leather deteriorating. The other side says that it’s the best conditioner that offers water protection.

I have red wings that I use in light snow and heavy mud (construction laborer that digs holes here). With this context in mind… should I condition with mink oil or not?
