Save loop issue

Hi. Just got BG3 on Xbox and am having fun for my first CRPG. Still in the beginning but was wondering if there was a solution to my problem.

I entered a new area and was immediately thrown into combat. The room I’m in basically bottlenecks me through one door and they just obliterate me every time. Then when it reloads it starts the combat over since it loads me at the beginning of the room. I thought I’ll just go to my last auto save but that one was unfortunately a couple hours back.

Is there a way to leave combat (I don’t have high hopes) so I can leave the room? Or did I just learn the lesson about saving frequently the hard way? TIA!
