My (30f) friend (30m) keeps inviting his gf (30f) who apparently finds me boring to our plans. I didn’t mind at first but now I feel like I don’t want to make plans anymore.
Should I be honest with Gary and tell him I don’t want our plans that involve his girlfriend?
My (30f) friend (30m) Gary keeps inviting his girlfriend (30f) Lily when we make plans. Gary did warn me Lily is very critical of people and who she likes and dislikes. So naturally when I met her for the first time I let her guide the conversation, which I was told by Gary after she didn’t find me particularly interesting and is disinterested in catching up with me again. I was fine with that, as long as her opinion of me was neutral. I didn’t want Gary to stop being my friend because she didn’t like me because she seems like the type to stop her partner from seeing friends she didn’t like.
Gary has a lot of friends that are girls and Lily has had same opinion of most when he introduced her. Gary and I are good friends and talk openly so I know this based on what he has told me. I don’t think Gary realises that when he tells me Lily’s opinions of his friends it sounds like she is overly critical of people if they don’t share the same views or hobbies as her. Anywho she appears to like me now and wants to tag along to all the plans Gary and I make, maybe because I’ve been more agreeable.
Now I think she is actually inviting herself and it’s not Gary inviting her because the last time Gary told me she had no plans. It may be the case that she doesn’t have many friends if she is very critical of people. I initially had no problem with Lily tagging along but now it’s a bit of a problem because I seem to be paying for everything, we only do what she likes doing or she’s seems bored and plays on her phone and lastly they definitely overstayed their welcome because we were doing what Lily likes doing. I think she wouldn’t have left if Gary didn’t tell her it was getting late.
I know my friend and I have no interest in some of her hobbies but every time we catch up it seems to revolve around keeping her entertained. A little bit like a child. I hate to say this but I’m exhausted every time I catch up with Gary and Lily, it never used to be like this when I caught up with Gary alone.
Seems like tables have turned but I’m not liking her rigid personality and feeling like I can’t be myself. Should I be honest with Gary and tell him how I feel?
Not sure if relevant but she seems to be finding out a lot of information about me. She told me the last time we caught up I know this and that about you. Not sure if she’s just blunt or it this is concerning.
