Got this campo as a single leaf cutting in August and it's grown so big! Also my first plant in leca. I think it loves it
This year I was sad I didn't have much greenery in my dark north-facing apartment so I built a little "greenhouse" with an ikea shelf and and a raspberry pi:
I started with
When I started this year I wasn't sure if I had a green thumb or not and wasn't sure if I would succeed at having any house-plants survive my apartment (and my neglect, I am lazy). Turns our if you let a shitty home-brew IoT system manage the water and the light the plants will actually take care of themselves!!
I moved a lot the last six months and didn't think I'd have any wins with my plants. Sadly, some like my Asiatic Lilly and poinsettia did not make it. The Asiatic died before all the moving began, and the Poinsettia jumped off the bed and pretty much killed itself while I was moving to another hotel for a few weeks.
However,
I do have some!
My Flaming Katy Kalanchoe is still surviving. She handled the stress but definitely is dealing with the changes by deciding she's going to look dead. My success is keeping her alive through all she's gone through, and while she looks rough. She's a fighter, and her trunks are thriving with the friends I gifted them to. The tall trunk that's being supported is the last of the original trunks.
My other win is the Easter Lily I bought in spring is already sprouting! I'm so excited. She also moved around with me, but being a bulb, I was much less worried.
The pic on the left is my Kalanchoe currently. It's super dry in my office building, and it's not insulated due to being an old supermarket, so when the temps fluctuate outside, they also fluctuate inside. Her neighbor, another Kalanchoe who also moved around with us, is thriving, though.
First post here, I think, but couldn’t resist sharing Phil’s progress almost 1 year later:
2022 was super rough battling fungus gnats and my apartment was just super dark. We lost a few smaller leaves in ‘23 with basically no growth until the before pic.

My Philodendron Summer Glory - ordered from plant vine. top pic, received on 11/13/23 was in horrible shape.
Bottom pic - exactly one month later, pic taken on 12/13/23
any tips on getting her back to her real summer glory would be greatly appreciated.

I have a few! My cyclamen came back, I think from dormancy, I’m not sure, but it’s coming back full swing! Below is my, I think, China rose. It had (to a lesser extent still does) a really bad spider mite and scale infestation. All the leaves dried up, but there’s new growth, so here’s to hoping!

My Flaming Katy Kalanchoe is struggling, but she's not completely given up yet. We moved a lot this year, so between climate changes and being in a car for 13 hours twicd, to move to various hotels and finally to my new job, it's had a stressful six months. Then the weather is sporadic, so it's just having a rough go of it. She's relatively healthy otherwise. I wanted to show a before of what she looked like before, but it wouldn't let me show a side by side. My only win is that she's survived.
My other wins are the Easter lillies I bought and also went on the above crazy trip and have begun to sprout. I'm so excited! I'll post a photo when I get home.
Here's the before picture of my Flaming Katy from April 2023.

Rescued this Begonia Maculata from my mom 4 months ago and have been nursing it back to health.
Oh my! That’s absolutely stunning! Over the summer I worked for Walmarts flower provider so I got to save a ton of plants from Walmarts trash. A Begonia maculata was one of our first rescues! What kind of soil do you have it in? I’m kinda new and yours looks wayyyyy more full than mine
Oh fun! So jealous of your access to all those rescues! I think I have it in the same soil I got from my mom since their roots are so fine (I don’t really understand soil).
What I do is keep it in front of a south facing window and bottom-water it about twice a week to keep the soil moist.
In terms of LOOKING more full, these are also really staked up, so the branches that normally grow straight out, are propped up to fill in the space. I also only have one side face the window so there’s a “front” to the plant and all leaves face down the same way to maximize the sunlight they receive.
