Boox Palma and Koreader

:snoo_thoughtful:Question

Hi,

I recently made the switch to Boox with the Palma.

Currently I am using the inbuilt reader (Neo, I think) but see a lot of people recommend Koreader and/or Moon Reader.

I have tried both but the problem I have with Koreader is that is puts a black bar on the bottom. From my reading, this might be an Android issue but I cannot work out how to fix it!

Can anyone help?

Try installing the latest apk for arm64 from their website: koreader.rocks. That seems to solve the issue on both my Leaf 2 and Palma.

I think that’s a book progress bar. There should be a setting to turn that off. I’ve never used Koreader so I don’t know where the setting is but I’ve used other apps with similar progress bars that can be toggled on and off.

I think the progress bar is above the black cut off.

Its hard to see on the photo unless you expand but the black at the bottom is a good chunk of screen. It is where the android menu pops up if I swipe up. Other apps utilise this space but Koreader seems to refuse to!

Oh! I see now. Sorry. Yeah. That’s distracting

Probably not. The UI is buggy on the Palma. Also this nuisance returned on my Leaf 2 after a reboot, so I don't know. Send this in to Boox through the feedback option in settings with the screenshot. Hopefully they'll fix it with enough people writing in about it.

Thanks, the UI seems fine otherwise.

I managed a fix (and it appears a known issue for Koreader). If you rotate the orientation and rotate it back, it fixes. So far, I have done that once and it has fixed it for now.

this black bar looks like space reserved by os for navigation buttons

but I have no explanation why one app has it (koreader) and others don't (I assume other apps are properly full-screen)

maybe check os settings for some per-app options?

It seems to be a bug. I managed to find a fix. If you rotate koreader and rotate back, it fixes it!
