I started delivering part time a few weeks ago and it's clear these companies don't care about the drivers or the customers. Their business model is wild.

I liken it to the new Wild West. The new gold rush, instead of people rushing to CA people rushing to sign up for UE. Everyone is trying to get a slice of gig world and like gold, this pie isn’t big enough. Uber gouges restaurants.
Uber gouges customer Uber lowballs drivers Uber gets the biggest cut and does the least imo. I get they have overhead.
But they could be a more solid company if they invested in the actual biz model instead of paying so much to CEO, investors and shareholders.

Drivers rely on customers generosity in way of tips.
When a state or city (CA, NYC) fights for protections and/or minimums for gig workers, customers get a new line item charge. That prob reduces tips imo.

It’s a new shell game of sorts coupled with a phantom gold rush.

This sounds about right.

Personally, I was unaware of how little the drivers were paid so now I feel bad for some prior low tips. I am hoping that's why so many are low or no tippers as well. But you're right that it's the company and we're out here practically pitted against each other (drivers and customers) while the company watches, holding a champagne flute. Lol

Never stolen food in over 1000 orders, but honestly the more I see this the more I think about doing it.

It's crazy. Spend thousands of dollars collectively on here, and they treat us like a criminal scammer for trying to get $6 back.

From my experience, you have a certain amount of price adjustments. It doesn’t matter the amount. Once you hit that limit, that’s it it resets after a period of time so if you order a few times a week and every five or six orders, there’s something you need a refund on you will run out real quick, so don’t complain about six dollars Only complain when your whole order is fucked up you’ll just have to eat the small ones or you can call customer service and speak to a human being and have them understand that you order often and you’re not trying to game any system and they will reset it for you, which is what I did everyone you speak to during text is a robot and my experienceand they just repeat the same thing over and over

I've never hit any sort of limit before, which is why it's been such a big surprise. And of course, it isn't even really about the $6 at this point but more about the principle of what was not received. But yea, I get it. I planned on calling them later when I have time to see if I can get more info.

I agree! The driver delivered to the wrong house yesterday and they said I'm not eligible for refund! I use ubereats like almost everyday! From time to time my orders get messed up or the food is spilled to the point where it's not edible. I find this is not fair to users who uses it often! Any how any success after calling?

I actually did not have to call. After it was already escalated to a supervisor in the screenshot I shared here, I questioned him further, and he sent it to a "priority support team" who refunded me.

So apparently, there are at least 2 escalation levels. I never even asked for it to be escalated, I just get a reply hours later from a new person on a new team.

I still may call to get more info regarding why I was even initially declined. It shouldn't have been this hard.

So you either gotta keep pressing them (I was never that rude to them, I just kept replying saying it doesn't make sense and asking for an explanation of why I can not be refunded). Or maybe calling is the better answer?

I'm gonna try doing the same! Cause this is ridiculous that we are paying for NOTHING!

When it’s something small and it’s a restaurant, I have never ordered from before. I usually just let it go if it’s from a place that I order from a bunch I was just call and ask them to put a note on file for next time I order to include whatever it was I try not to deal with their customer support anymore unless it’s something large but yeah I get it it’s not about the money it’s the principal I don’t like getting ripped off either but I can’t drive so unfortunately I just have to deal with it but when you talk to a human being on the phone they usually see how often you order how often you complain the severity of your complaints And usually help you out where their automated system just sees that you’ve complained 10 times within the last year or you’ve had 25 complaints in the lifetime of your account and then just says no automatically for me. But when I spoke to someone fairly high up at one point after bitching for months to get some information, and not being told to read the terms which I have, lol copy and paste them into a word document to try to find anything related to a price adjustment limit was told in English, so I don’t understand exactly what he said, but there is both a rolling amount, and a total amount of price adjustments for the lifetime of your account which includes technical glitches, which result in Uber, credit and issues with restaurants or delivery so I try my best just to limit it to complaining when it’s something over 20 bucks and worth it but in the lifetime of my account and ordering pretty much every day I’ve had to get my limit reset 3 times because they’re algorithm is shit if I’m ordering seven days a week and one out of 10 orders has something wrong with it like come on lol

I still haven’t seen a post yet where someone confirms it, which would be cool. But i think Uber has taken the insurance company model. Once you have to many “claims,” they just drop you. I’m guessing there is some algorithm that says this many orders with this many refunds equals some percentage and once you hit it, they drop your ability to refund. At some point the refunds cost more than their profits, like it is with insurance, so they just say you are costing us money instead of making money, bye. Not saying it’s right, but I’m betting that’s the issue.

That is basically what was said to me, but in that roundabout way, warning me about excessive requests. My reply to this was actually asking for more info where I was told it was a security measure that they cannot tell me any info about my account. If I end up having time to call in today, I'll update with any info I get from them.

Quick Tip: stop wasting money on Uber . People should stop using this type of service. It a waste of money. It faster to go get your food yourself.

rlversOP•

Update: After questioning the "supervisor" further, asking for a further explanation of why i cannot recieve a refund. They replied that it was a security measure why he could not share the info with me, and then they escalated my request again. So now it's been escalated twice, both without me even asking for an escalation.

Thia new desk, the Priority Support Team, wasted no time refunding me as an "exception."

"We know this wasn't the outcome you were expecting" SASSY 😂

Honestly, why should Uber pay for the restaurant's mistake?

-7
rlversOP•

Why should the customer pay for the restaurants mistake? Its as simple as I paid uber for this service, I didnt get what I paid for. Uber needs to handle the rest, whether they take money out of what the restaurant was getting paid or whatever. The customer or driver shouldn't pay for these issues.

This is why you should call the restaurant first and see if they can make it up to you. I think Uber is shady AF, but they can't take money back from restaurants when this happens

rlversOP•

In the few instances I have reached out to the restaurant itself, they usually have not done anything, instead referring to uber because the order originated through there. And in this specific instance that I am dealing with right now, is a restaurant in a different state than I live in, that was 7 miles away from where I was staying with no mode of transportation. I just want my $6. Uber chose to be the middle man here, and they need to own up to their place in it.

I also want to state that in 5 years of using uber eats and paying extra for the service. I have NEVER had an issue before.

The resturaunt workers have literally no power of order refunds and such, they wouldn’t be able to help.

2
Chris210•

Because they’re offering the middleman service?

3
dxrebirth•

They charge restaurants and customers an absurdly excessive amount of fees. They best do their own customer service.
