Is randomly deleting aUEC-bought ships part of intentional partial resets, or is this just a fun bug?
Just lost a Hornet Ghost for apparently no reason last night, after an update.
I have been mentally prepared to accept resets where everyone loses all their temporary Alpha progress, almost like a seasonal system.
But I was absolutely not prepared to just suddenly lose one of my ships in the middle of a cycle with no prior warning. Somehow losing one ship feels worse than losing them all.

It's a bug CIG is constantly looking into. They are trying to fix it, and every patch less and less seems to be lost, but it doesn't seem like they have any good way of testing things other than when they deploy a new patch to see if they managed to fix it, so the feedback loop of their attempts is a very big one.
Alright.
Idk if this information is relevant at all, but I can at least say that when I was logged out, the F7C-S Hornet Ghost I lost was with me at Ghost Hollow, along with my Corsair further away, a Mirai Fury, and the Aurora I most recently arrived in. I was at Ghost Hollow and online when the server shut down, I had noticed the green ~5 min warning message in chat.
The Ghost was the last ship I had bought, though I bought some ground vehicles after, I had bought it that day along with the Fury. It was not stock.
I had heard that having an ship unstowed when a patch drops increases the chance of losing it, but I hadn't actually seen that confirmed. I don't know if there's anything else I can really say on the issue other than it's a known bug and I'm not sure if there's much you can do to get it back.
I did lost my c2 2 updates back, so i bought again, sadly. Then yesterday was this new update. I was with my cutlass red and my vulture in the middle of space salvaging. When i did return to the game after the patch my c2 still here, my vulture and cutlass too and my freelancer max; but my c8 rescue gone and no idea why now i have 2 freelancer max
I'm no conspiracist, but to me losing the in game ships is not lost due to a bug..... If it was a bug then how come I never ever lost any real money ships with patch only in game purchased ones? (Do not count the ASOP terminal Rental bug that removes ships, that's different all together.)
Ask yourself...has anyone lost access to their real money ships post patch or only in game bought ships (that wasn't related to the vehicle rental bug)?
Because they handle real money ships differently.
Real world ships are stored in an website hangar database, along with all the other gear, flair, and other stuff that appears in your website hangar. Stuff bought in game is stored on the long term persistence database, which is where the issue lies with not everything you buy being properly saved there all of the time.
My understanding is that when they restore data after a patch is deployed, they build it off of the online hangar database, and then copy everything else over from the long term persistence database.
And yes, there are separate bugs that can mean people lose access to real money ships, though this is more to do with IRL purchases not synching up properly when buying something new or doing an upgrade, though this is more of a temporary access issue than an actual loss issue.
Thank you for proving my point. We have 1 working system (real money) and 1 buggy system). Now imagine if they just copied the working system made pledges for ingame aUEC and you solved a bug CIG hasn't "solved" in 10 years.
I didn't prove your point, I explained why your conspiracy is BS. As much as you insist you aren't a conspiracist, you sure do sound exactly like one.
That wouldn't work at all. The issue is to do with saving things when they happen in game, not with the data storage itself. You can't just apply a rigid solution that's designed to take in data items in a specific format and not do much with it, and apply it to something else that has constantly updating data that is used a lot by many different things. That's just not how it works.
They can share similarities, but both problems require different solutions, and that's what they have. All that happened is that they had a working solution for in game ships, implemented new foundational technology, and inadvertently broke something. If they somehow made a foundational change to the website data, that'd risk breaking the databases related to it as well.
Also, what do you mean 10 years? This bug only first appeared back in May of this year, that's barely 7 months ago.
It's not as easy as copying over the one system to the other. To explain what you are asking in a metaphor:
The system that handles money-bought ships is like a locked spreadheet, that You (the servers) can read but not edit, only the Editor (your RSI account) can edit that document.
Now the persistence tech (the ingame-bought stuff) is like an open spreadsheet shared by many people, all of whom can edit and read the stuff at any time.
It's unlikely that you will have any issue getting a piece of data from the Editor's spreadsheet, but getting a piece of data from the shared spreadsheet is significantly more difficult, with a decent chance that one of your Co-workers (things like persistant hunger&thirst, money, health, etc...) accidentally deleted the data You are looking to find.
They are currently trying to move the shared spreadsheet into the control of the Editor, making it a locked document that You and your Co-workers can read, and can send audits too. Which is quite difficult to do in the terms of programming, but I will not go into much depth there, as frankly it is above my expertise, and I'm working in IT.
Yeah. You are a conspiracy theorist.
No it's true. I have proof of the secret lottery of the Rothschilds where it is decided which aUEC-bought ships will be deleted.
Found another person who never lost a real money ship.
No one loses a real money ship. A different dB likely.
Yes, people lost pledged ships. CIG even mentioned that it was caused by the same issue they have now (The graph database they migrated do alongside the PES launch). A simple search on IC will show you multiple reports including ones that specifically mention the ships were lost after an update.
No they have not lost real money ships unless it was the rental ASOP bug.
Looks like you are not even considering being open to other options. If you ever change your mind, you can just do what I mentioned in my previous reply and check the IC reports.
Nobody mentioned real money ships though.
Well yeah because people don't complain when something works.
Thanks for proving my point, you never lost a real money ship, but in 10 years we're still "randomly" losing in game ships, which conveniently pushes to invest into the working system that has never lost ships (real money).
So a bug that affects one thing, and doesn't affect another thing isn't a bug, it's a purposeful conspiracy? You need to take the tinfoil hat off.
Part of the process of patch updating is reattribition of your pledge store items. They're stored separately from.ingame bought items. The issue is they're having trouble with the ingame database, but that doesn't impact the account/pledge inventory
Exactly. They have 1 working system and 1 non working system like I said. Just like I said.
We've been losing ships for over a decade now.... Imagine if they just copied the working pledge system and made virtual pledge items based on aUEC. Can be solved in 1 year not in 10 years. It benefits CIG not to fix this bug and not to copy the working system to the non-working one.
