that and every now and then i hear people setting off fireworks on mt vic around 1-2am, you can hear the dogs freaking out at the spca from where i am. Isn’t it illegal to set them off before a certain date?
Besides legality, it’s so inconsiderate to let off fireworks on random days without any warning, at least on days where we expect them people are able to prepare themselves, kids and pets for the noise. Can’t even imagine how the native wildlife is impacted.

Unfortunately our laws only prohibit you buying them except at certain times. Some councils have time windows you have to stick to (5pm to 10.30pm) but it looks like in Welly you're only covered by the general noise laws which are impossible to enforce in cities. Ban the fuckers already, I say.

2.30 Christmas morning is not ok and frankly if you think it is then you’re just as much a tool as the person setting them off. People have a right to sleep, especially on Christmas Eve. People have kids who wake up early enough without this bullshit

I agree .. 0145 through to 0245 - so obnoxious. Has woken the kids here. Seems to be around Gordon St/Gordon Pl - could see them through my window. They have a habit of setting off post midnight fireworks after their parties - same place was doing it last summer. Would be good to know who it was but then again the police wouldn’t do anything.
