It's just a joke! A serious joke. Y'know, like when it's a joke, but you mean it.

501
haveweirddreams•

Why is it the my first thought about adding female characters was about dragging them around and tea bagging them? I’m just a funny guy.

Adept_Loquat4687•

Schroedners joke. It is both a joke, if you disagree, and their genuine opinion if you do agree.

109

schrodingers asshole

28
KadeComics•

Yeah I've seen that attitude before.

  1. It's sexist to not hit women because it implies they're too weak or fragile
  2. Therefore, gender equality is to hit women as much as you can as hard as you can, even more so than men, because you're just so virtuous and egalitarian. You can't be sexist if you're brutalizing women so much, right?

DestructicusDawnOP•

It's definitely a recurring them with these people and it's always the exact same reasoning.

It's just a round about way of threatening women for wanting to be treated equally.

IoniaFox•

What i always found weird about the "euqal rights equal fights" is the brutality which is "equal", a women slapping someone, barely doing damage, the guy like 3 weightclasses above hitting her back with the first punch clearly flash KOing her and continuing with a few more? Comments full of "equal right equal fights" brother where is the equal

If a women slaps me or even hitting me for no real reason and it isnt doing any significant damage, you get a slap back, not a full on mike tyson combo like im fighting a heavyweight for my life

145
King_Ed_IX•

You are very much right in this response, but I also feel like it's important to point out that "you shouldn't hit people in case they hit you back harder" is also just good advice. Overreaction is very bad, but no one should be hitting anyone to begin with.

72
IoniaFox•

Oh yes for sure, you shouldnt just hit people in general specially for just verbal disagreements, like you see videos of people hitting each other and the reason was because one of them bought the last wine bottle that gets replaced tomorrow anyway

29

Exactly.

Equal rights and fights should mean everyone gets to defend themselves. but it should be about self defence not wanton violence why are they so eager to get violent with people shouldn’t we be trying to be less violent and only using it for self defence?

if I punch someone they can hit back in self defence not go overboard.

16

I think it might be an overcorrection to an attidute where, as a man, you are told not to hit women no matter what the contex is. So even if you are theoretically attacked or assauled(I personally was told that in no uncertain terms many times)if you fight back you are in the wrong when the assaultant is a women. Which is you know, completely insane. People realise that, and some of them are starting to fantasise about attack women, in a perceived notion of equality, which is completely unjusifieble

22
dilib•

There's still grey area, like e.g. I was attacked by a teenager recently and I could have put him in hospital but I settled for demonstrating I am larger than him and some harsh words. I think I would have been in the wrong if I had smashed him in the face or something.

What I'm saying is, women are a lot smaller than men and you probably don't need to injure them unless they're trying to stab you

17
TentacleJesus•

Yeah, not even going to humor the thought of equal and opposite reaction. They go straight to trying to punch the head right off at the first opportunity.

'Gamers' are really passionate about this "equal rights equal lefts" thing, it's almost like they're obsessed with it so much they find ways to crowbar it into completely unrelated conversations. I don't know guys, you don't think they just have hidden desire to punch women do you?

301
UnluckyHorseman•

"hidden"

98
iwillshankyourkids•

Hidden from themselves of course, if you asked one of them if they wanted to hit women they'd say of course not and probably really believe it themselves. Basically they have no self awareness, because they're stupid

34

That's the scary part honestly.

7
TentacleJesus•

No wonder "gamers" love reddit so much.

7
Quartznonyx•

WOMEN WANT EQUALITY? HAHAHA THAT MEANS I GET TO BEAT THE SHIT OUTTA THEM NOW HAHAHAHA. IM SCARED OF PHYSICALLY CONFRONTING OTHER MEN BUT I CAN TOTALLY TAKE THE WOMAN THAT'S UPSET ABOUT RAPE STATISTICS, AND BY ASKING TO BE MY EQUAL SHE'S ACTIVELY INVITING ME TO.

That's how them mfers sound

Thats what i was gonna say

7

Exactly

5
poottttt•

i mean the original teabagging comment seems harmless just the two dillweeds at the end being delusional

80
ARobotJew•

It is very awesome and not at all terrible that many men’s first instinct in a discussion about equality is to mention committing violence on women.

60
Forbidden_Scorcery•

Committing violence is literally the objective of the game

-32
zwel8606Pro Fortniter:epic:•

Then it goes without saying any of the above comments

19
Forbidden_Scorcery•

But I don’t see the misogyny, is my point.

-20

You're a gamer

11

Well this escalated quickly

49
LamaPajamas•

"kill em all" is such a wild comment 😭

43
Thatguyj5•

Damn. That went from 0 to 100 real fucking quick. From teabags to genocide lmao

14

Yeah I went "oh lovely, teabagging surely it can't be that bad"

"KILL EM ALLLL" Hmmm...

6

In theory I agree everyone gets tea bagged but let’s be honest we all know they would target women more because it’s not about being equal it’s about ruining a woman’s day.

Also maybe we should just tea bag people less in general. Instead of tea bag everyone because equal maybe just cut the immaturity and just be cool.

r3volver_Oshawott•

I always wonder what's so controversial about 'be less shitty in your video games' too, there was one popular Overwatch sub comment that decried banning anyone for anything including slurs because they thought even the worst trash talk was 'intended design, otherwise why would games even have microphones?'

Like, in a competitive game? Forreal? lmao the intended design was strategy, like actual comms - not only is virtual teabagging not the intended design, but half the reason most people refuse to voice chat is because they're tired of playing with people who are gonna tell them to kys

There's so many gamers who talk about how excited they are to send and receive threats because they like getting under people's skin and they act like that's a universal consensus or somethinf

6

That's hilarious though. For a player to believe the "intended design" is being rude or putting others down is insane. Assuming they're not just saying that to hide behind the fact they just want others to feel bad, which I think is more likely. Hyper competitive games really have that sort of reputation that feeds into itself I guess

I mean, definitely, I find it real easy to believe a person like that is mean-spirited but I also think most mean-spirited gamers genuinely think gaming was built on enforcing that bad behavior too, like the edgy kids that don't just think that free speech=saying the worst stuff imaginable, but thinking that saying the worst stuff imaginable is the ultimate form of free speech just because it's the most likely speech to get them banned from a platform

Same as this 'equal rights equal fights' stuff, games were marketed and distributed solely for boys for so long that I think perceptions got skewed: same generalizations I've seen about women supposedly being more avid mobile gamers, it's funny because handheld gaming was the entry point for a lot of girls but it wasn't mobile puzzle games, it was Tetris on Game Boy (also I know some people don't consider the Sims a 'real game' lol but it constitutes a retail price AAA game - live service too - that is predominantly non-male: as a franchise, The Sims existence always proved that even gaming as a long-term hobby was never a market for just one gender)

I think a ton of these dudes are being overly territorial of 'their hobby' because their hobby constituted a lot of shady stuff on their part and people like the ones in the post are maybe acting annoyed bc a growing gaming demographic may mean some reflection is in order and that's when they hit with the 'I play video games to get away from that kinda politics'

1

Deep rock galactic actively discourages this behaviour (unless you are an elf) both by in game mechanics and by the community. Check out the subreddit to see what I mean.

Why do the 'equal right, equal fights' crowd always come across as just wanting an excuse to hit women

5
_LadyAveline_•

Why is it, the first thought in their mind about equality, to be violent towards women?

PSA: Make it a habit of reading the rules of each subreddit you participate in:

Rule 9: No Offensive Imagery: This includes nazi imagery and slurs, for you brave nerds who think "free speech" involves private internet forums. If you post fascist iconography trying to “jerk”, you will receive a ban. The only exception is when we make fun of gamers and criticize gamers who happen to be fascists. Please remember to spoiler any potentially triggering or offensive content accordingly. This rule now includes repeatedly posting bigotry from the same source (4chan).

Rule 7: No Participation in Linked Threads (Brigading): If you are coming here to brigade this sub, you will be banned. Likewise, do not make comments and vote in pages you've found here. Of course, if you're a member of said sub and you were already in the thread before, this doesn't apply to you.

Rule 8: Censor Screenshots: Keep screenshots of arguments on Reddit to a minimum. Please remember to censor screenshots of all identifying information, i.e usernames and subreddit names. This applies to screenshots from any social media sites.

Rule 11: Keep Posts Relevant (only about Don Cheadle): This is first and foremost a place to make fun of gamers. Just because someone is being a bigot online doesn't mean it belongs here. Let them be pathetic without infecting the sub with their nonsense. Please avoid posting screenshots that show people using capital G gamer slurs. If absolutely necessary, please censor posts and the words containing such content.

Rule 12: No Fake Posts on Other Subs (Contamination): Do not create fake posts on other subs only to post back here. Also, do not "lol, you should post this on r / OtherSub". It's considered interfering with their content and can also lead to brigading.

This is a reminder to the readers. The post itself is untouched.

If it were not a video game about killing yes. But are they not supposed to kill someone playing as a woman character and do all the same shit as usual?

-16
Commercial_Grab129•

New meta, only play as female characters so people won't kill you.
