Got a everyday camera for christmas but need to decide which to keep (Nikon Z fc vs. OM-5)
Hey everyone I wish u all a great start into the new year!
I got for christmas a everyday camera. But it's two models I have to decide which to keep.
I am a Olympus shooter. I own the OM-1 with a standard zoom, telezoom and a 60mm portrait/macro.
One is the Nikon Z fc with the 28mmf2.8 and the other one is the OM-5 with the 25mmf1.8.
I love the look of the Z fc. It looks so beautiful and I like the dials and the format of it. It feels literally like I would use my Minolta XG-1 when I just use the viewfinder. The only negative points I have are that it feels pretty cheap, is not even a bit weather resistant (f.e. light rain/snow in the city) and if I ever want another lens I would need to buy nikon gear.
The OM-5 is small. Really small with the 25mm and that really nice too. I have the silver version and it looks also quite nice and retro just not that much like the Nikon. The good points are that its fully weather resistant, I can use all lenses I have on it (backup camera basically) and it's has ibis. The ibis I don't miss in the Nikon. I tried it and it felt "natural" to shoot without Ibis like in film camera days.
Now I need to make a decision. I know others can't make decisions for me but maybe can give some opinions. My mind says to keep the OM-5 due to compatibility with my existing gear and IBIS and weather resistant. My heart somehow says the Nikon Zfc due to how it looks, the jpeg simulations and the good size and the feeling of using a film camera.
maybe u guys can add some opinions and help me with my decision.
