Coming back from a long hiatus and told my new deck sucks

So it's been a few years since I've last played due to A. covid, B. college, and C. job and apartment hunting. As well as the old shop I went to having closed. I used to play a weird mix of ritual blue-eyes with lvl 8 xyz and the dark-eyes matter gimmick with Goliath before dark-eyes got banned After I moved to a cyber dragon deck I had and started building a true Draco deck before I was told they got gutted. One deck that kinda intrigued me while I was online was Swordsoul but it was way outside my price range. Now getting ready to get back into in-person Yugioh and a friend recommended me swordsoul stating the price dropped and I was stoked. Loved the art and the archetype seemed cool and I was excited to grab it. However now that I built a tenyi swordsoul deck. All I see and hear about is that I've wasted my money on a terrible deck and I'm just curious as to why? From my understanding, the deck seems consistent, can get out quite a few negates on the board in one turn outside on any hand traps, and at least to me, seems fun to play still. What makes it so bad in everyone's eyes? Is it just the current decks can play around negates better? Is it the effects of new cards used in current decks? I understand something like blue eyes being seen as bad because it bricks so much or any deck that got gutted from a recent or past ban list (dragon rulers, although I'm now hearing they're coming back bit by bit?). Curious as to what others thoughts are that have been around while the power of the deck has shifted.

TLDR: Coming back into in-person Yugioh and bought a swordsoul tenyi deck I've been looking at ever since i first saw it and Baron was 90 a pop as well as other cards and now told (mostly online) that I wasted my money on a bad deck and curious as to why its bad.
