Rode Video Mic Go Deadcat

I have a Rode Video Mic Go that I just bought and I purchased the Dead Cat for it, I've seen people slip dead cats over the foam screens for their rode mics, and I was wondering if this was common practice. I threw my Dead Cat over my naked capsul and wanted to know if I'm leaving out precious noise isolation from wind by doing it this way. (Also the Dead Cat was a pain to install without the foam so I'm hoping its fine anyways.
