Trying to move on from a Bumble match
I matched with a guy on Bumble, and we talked for four months, even planning to meet in person in the future. He is based in Spain, while I am living in the Philippines.
We exchanged contact numbers on Telegram, and he was consistently communicative. I felt comfortable with him and was willing to exchange intimate photos, believing in the importance of sexual chemistry and engaging in sexting.
However, last Sunday, he unexpectedly blocked me on Telegram and unmatched me on Bumble, leaving me devastated. :( I messaged him on iMessage seeking closure. During our conversations, I expressed the importance of informing each other if we no longer wanted to continue our communication. Despite my frustration, I had to control my emotions and handle the situation in a nice manner.
He replied, explaining that he blocked me for personal reasons and was feeling emotionally overwhelmed. He also mentioned a genetic disease he has been struggling with. In an attempt to ease the situation, I suggested being friends, but he preferred to communicate on Viber as he is trying to avoid using Telegram atm. I agreed, and we resumed talking as if nothing had happened.
I'm currently feeling sad and tired of being vulnerable on dating apps. Despite being reserved most of my life, I recently realized the importance of openness and authenticity in dating. I asked him if we could still pursue a romantic relationship if he improved mentally, and he was uncertain but open to the idea.
This morning, I realized that I'm not okay with being just friends with him and that I need some time apart. Deep down, I still hope for a reconciliation, but I'm not happy with how things unfolded in our relationship.
I would appreciate words of encouragement, affirmation, or any advice on how to move forward. Thank you so much!
