Help! Nothing is working, husband is getting worse over time

Hi all,

My husband has FND, he was diagnosed about 3 years ago now and he has only gotten worse. I can’t even tell you how many doctors we’ve seen. His primary symptoms are constant dizziness with “whooshes” (that’s what he calls them but it’s just a sudden intensification of his dizziness that stops him and overtakes his senses) his other primary symptom is memory loss. He’s also having these terrifying episodes where he just doesn’t know where he is or what he’s doing, it actually happened on Christmas Day and he didn’t know who me or his dad were or where he was which was his home of 30+ years. A few days before that he didn’t know how to work the stove.

He’s seen a few ENTs, PCPs, and neuros. Done vestibular balance therapy 2x, cbt 1x. They want him to have a neuropsych eval but insurance isn’t approving it. He’s seeing a psychiatrist-CRNP now … he has Medicaid so it’s thru the community mental health center. He’s also being treated for OCD, which it has been suggested that the ocd caused the FND.

My questions are:

1- has anyone found anything that works for these symptoms? (Dizziness and memory loss)

2- does anyone have any recommendations for a good doctor in the Philadelphia area? I’m willing to drive- it just has to be in PA for now bc of insurance.

He’s currently being seen by a neuro at Penn but useless doesn’t even begin to cover it…

3- if you have any suggestions to try at all whether it’s a different kind of dr or therapy etc please let me know! I will do anything to help my husband get better,, it’s scary to see him losing his memory when he’s only 39!
