Thinking of returning to Azeroth

Played Vanilla - Legion pretty consistently over the last 20 years. Haven’t played since then and am thinking about returning (Been playing FFXIV for the past 3 years and fancied a change). As someone that longs for that old school buzz of the grind to 60 through WPL etc, will I get that through Classic? Do I need to go back and do Legion, BFA and DF? Basically any and all recommendations for restarting after a long hiatus would be appreciated!
