India's state-controlled Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has started oil production from its flagship deep-water project in the Krishna Godavari basin off the nation’s eastern coast. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri announced the commencement of "First Oil" production from the complex and challenging deepwater KG-DWN-98/2 Block, contributing to an energy self-reliant India.
