Worth applying to Stanford MS iCME this year?

Computational Sciences

Hello,

I was interested in applying to Stanford MS iCME (either data science or general track) this year. However, I am not sure if this is a good idea given. Here is my background profile:

- 3.98 GPA in Stats + CS major at UIUC

- 3 research positions. I am currently at NIH for 3D computer vision, one with graph neural networks for recommendation systems, one for data visualizations in comp sci and educations. While my LoRs know me, they will probably be moderate/ok realistically speaking.

- One internship as as a software engineer at a big bank

- One year as TA (don't think this matters)

I'm primarily interested in applying for applied machine learning positions where I apply existing techniques to areas of science and social science which is why I was interested in this program.

I read on the website that it is highly unlikely to get admitted as a re-applicant (https://icme.stanford.edu/academics-admission/icme-graduate-program-application#Reapplying) and so I was wondering if it was worth taking the risk or if I should wait another year. Fwiw, I got into Berkeley and Cornell MEng CS last year, but I'd imagine it's a lot harder to get into Stanford MS iCME and it isn't comparable.

If I get rejected, I was also interested in applying to MSCS next year down the line and wasn't sure if I would be putting myself at risk for MS CS next year if I get rejected from iCME this year? Thanks!
