Need help on Ford Focus 1.8

Hi All, Looking for assistance I have a Ford Focus 2005 1.8 Gas. Shown on the photo is the Purge valve hose If I'm not mistaken.
1st issue: If that is connected the car wont start. If it's not connected then it starts
2nd issue: Once it's running, if I step on the gas nothing is happening it's not getting any revs
I have some checked it and was advised to replace Throttle body.
Looking for any 2nd opinion on this issues. Thanks
