Why did not Voldemort kill Prof. Slughorn?

Knowing the mindset of Voldemort, he was supposed to see everyone who know about Horcruxes as a threat to his existence. However, he let Slughorn live and even continued to teach Potions at Hogwarts in last year. Why did he let him live?
