What does breastfeeding look like when you return to work?
So I’m about to return to work shortly before my daughters first birthday. I’m not sure what kind of breastfeeding schedule I should go with and was wondering what if experiences others have had. It’s an awkward time because I would like to keep breastfeeding partially, but I’d also like to transition her to regular milk or replace some feedings with real food.
I will be out of the house between 5:30-6am and home by 5:30 for 4 days a week. I plan on continuing to nurse my daughter to sleep, and my husband will be giving her bottles of pumped milk during the day. Right now she tends to wake up at 5:30 am (lucky me!) so I think I should be able to continue to nurse her in the morning, but if she starts sleeping later, what should I do?
Should I wake her up at 5:30to nurse? Should I just let my husband give her a bottle, or should he start the habit of giving her breakfast right away? I don’t have a huge freezer stash, so should we start transitioning her to regular milk soon? I will be able to pump at work but I don’t produce a ton of volume through pumping so it’s only a matter of time before we won’t have much left.
Any advice is appreciated, thanks!
