People assuming you’re wealthy (but you are not??)
sounds like the humble brag of the century but listen: i’m in college and my family is on the poverty line but the people (⚪️ saltines) around me assume i’m rich because i take care of myself
problems this causes: being questioned by social services when picking up food at the pantry, envy of a SALTINE roommate whom i do not speak to who 2x literally sneakily said “she’s rich w/ 2 parents who pay for everything” (i am on the poverty line with one parent)
I don’t pay for school because i have a full-ride scholarship and i notice this made a SALTINE salty once even though her dad has $500k in investments (her words!)
I am quiet and keep to myself which I don’t think helps me. I also have a stereotypically “talk white” which I don’t think helps. It makes people have so many assumptions about me.
