What happened to it 😭

First time making peanut brittle. I started with making my own syrup. Added more Sugar and water, started to boil. Sugar never got any color, and all the water burnt off. Made this dense Sugar mess that my candy thermeter got stuck in. Can I just rehydrate the sugar and keep going? Was I stiring too much?
