No one can figure out the rattle with my 08 Civic LX...

Question

Three respected mechanics in my area have so far failed to identify the rattling noise in my 2008 Honda Civic LX (120k miles). If you have any ideas, please please please let me know…

- The rattle occurs almost every time I hit a small-medium-sized bump.

- The rattle lasts for several seconds.

- It seems like it is coming from the center of the car.

- You can hear it inside with the windows up, but it is definitely louder with the windows down.

- Wetness seems to make it less common.

- It is most common going 10-50 MPH.

- It doesn't matter if you're turning or apply the breaks. It will rattle until the car comes to a near stop.

- it sounds EXACTLY like an instrument called a Vibra Slap. For example... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lRQE-TOmtx8

The rattle has been going on for around 6 months. One mechanic believed it was the rear control arms and replaced them for around $600. The rattle didn't go away. He mentioned it may be the front control arms as they appear worn or a bushing, but I don't trust that guy anymore.

Another mechanic said he couldn’t hear a rattling, likely because it was very wet that day. The third mechanic was stumped and suggested I take it to another guy.
