How Oh How Do I Properly Document a Qualified Early Withdrawal of a Backdoor Roth Conversion
Did a backdoor Roth conversion in 2023 through Vanguard and then unexpectedly found a great deal on a first home. Since I hadn't been saving much for a down payment, I had to liquidate assets quickly. I took the $6,000 from my backdoor Roth for part of the down payment.
The question is how on earth I document this correctly in my tax returns. Do I just call it a Traditional IRA early withdrawal? The tax paperwork Vanguard sent me show the $6,000 in the traditional (which is I think were the pro rata rule comes in?) and then my other regular Roth withdrawals.
