Shiny Pokémon.

I’ve been playing Pokémon since sapphire on GBA and I have never actually encountered a shiny Pokémon in the wild. I feel like that’s pretty odd. is anyone else struggling with the same thing? I must admit, I’ve never actually gone and hunted for one before so that very well may be my problem
